I want to start by thanking The Tannery Inc by getting us started with the materials for an enrichment activity in the classroom. We are in the progress of tanning deer hides with 20 8th grade students. We are fleshing our hides right now. Stay tuned to follow our progress!

We finished up fleshing last week and were able to prepare the tanning crystal/water/flour. Since we had to leave them over the weekend they are quite dry. We will try to soak them with a towel like the video suggests to rehydrate before we are able to scrape the mixture off and begin the next step. Kids love it! Thanks.
