Ok this may sound like a stupid question but I am just starting out at this. I actually havent mounted anything yet I am still trying to learn as much as I can before I take a stab at it. Is a whitetail form the same as a blacktail form? I havent found hardly any blacktail forms online and here in california well thats all we got. Any other advice would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately, I can't be much help in this area.  I just tan hides.  I don't do any taxidermy work beyond bleaching and mounting skulls.

Maybe another member of the forums will be able to answer the question.

It sounds like it mainly comes down to body size.
