using neatsfoot oil
« on: April 20, 2007, 11:45:52 AM »

I recently tanned a buffalo hide using the complete home tanning kit, it turned out beautifully.
I have one more to tan but only have half a bottle of the home tanning oil left, I was wondering if neatsfoot oil could be substituded or mixed with the remaining home tanning oil to complete the buffalo hide?

Sorry, but Neatsfoot oil will not work. It is a petroleum based oil that will not dry in the same fashion as the tanning oil. Our tanning oil is a water-soluble oil that is designed to cure dry to the touch. It leaves the hide soft without feeling greasy.

If you would like to get more bottles of tanning oil you can get them here:
